〖August 1st〗

“-Happy birthday dear Switzerland, happy birthday to you!” {Name}, an energetic {h/c} haired female sang happily, finishing the classic iconic “Happy Birthday” song.

Liechtenstein, who was singing along softly with the cheerful {Name}, giggled at the last verse of the melody and clapped delightfully.

Switzerland, a blonde haired male with stern emerald green eyes, softened as he watched the two girls enjoying themselves. Lilli had meant everything to him; and now he trusted {Name} enough to even communicate with her. It took a few rounds of the excited {e/c} eyed female to run through his country with Italy obliviously. And sure enough, Vash has swiped his nearest gun and began to release the bullets trigger happily. The naive duo almost got injured a few times.

Soon {Name} and the Swiss nation got to know each other better, with him taking forever to decide whether or not let her gain entrance inside his house. There she met the adorable Liechtensteiner Lilli, and the two had gotten along well. This is where Vash’s trust had begun to differ towards {Name}; sure, he was distant at first, but soon he became less wary of her. From the cold, annoyance in his emerald eyes to the warm trust that had taken its place, the girl’s sweet nature helped him slowly open up. Sure, the girl with excited {e/c} eyes got on his nerves at times, and but at other times, him and Liechtenstein enjoyed {Name}’s company.

They had embraced the {h/c} haired girl’s presence almost every day in their household so much, that they had not realized how much time had passed by. For today, was Vash’s Birthday.

{Name} had wanted to throw a party for him. The neutral Swiss of course did not want anyone else to come to this proclaimed celebration, only his beloved Lilli and the excited female who even planned it in the first place.

As for decorations and everything else concerned, Switzerland, being the frugal male he is, wouldn’t allow {Name} to go overboard with the party decorations, the cake, and all the essentials. She surprisingly actually followed directions and only created a simple party. Only a few streamers, the classic colorful banner hanging above the cake, party hats, and of course, the iconic delicious dessert required for anyone’s birthday. This doesn’t sound like a wonderful party, but to Vash it was; it pleased him.

A small smile slowly appeared on his face. Maybe {Name} was growing more mature. She seemed to be learning lessons with money rather well, as seen by not paying too much for his party. And her {e/c} eyes sparkled with excitement as she came over to their home daily to take care of Liechtenstein, and play with her as well.  Maybe {Name} would grow up into a wonderful woman, losing her naivety unlike a certain ditzy Italian.

“Oh Switzy!” the female who Switzerland was thinking about in the first place jolted him back into reality.

“Don’t call me that,” grumpy, annoyed green eyes stared into her playful, teasing {e/c} ones. {Name} had been calling him that for a while now and just started doing it on a daily basis. She thought it was a cute nickname and her best friend Lilli agreed. Vash didn’t like it one bit, but he was used to it by now…hopefully.

“But it’s a cute nickname!” {Name} whined as she crossed her arms in an immature manner.

Switzerland huffed at her childish tantrum and grumbled, “Never mind that, what were you going to tell me?”

She immediately perked up at the Swiss nation’s reminder as she leaped up and realized excitedly, “That’s right! I was about to tell you something! Hold on a minute Switzy~”

As {Name} skipped out of the room, Switzerland yelled from behind her; “For the last time, don’t call me that!”

“I can’t hear you!” she teased back making Vash roll his eyes in annoyance.

Soon after {Name} rushed back into the room enthusiastically and held her hands out to him. Inside her tiny hands was a small box covered with pure white wrapping paper. Topped on it was a bright red bow, tied around the whole entire package. Hanging from the bow, was a tag reading “To Switzy, from {Name}.” It was a present.

“…What is this?” Switzerland asked, puzzled as he took the small gift from {Name}’s hands.

{Name} and Lilli giggled, making him even more confused. He raised a brow. “Brother, this is a present from {Name}!” the innocent blonde haired girl explained. “It is for your birthday!”

“A…A present?” Vash repeated, at a loss for words.

“Yes a present!” amusement filled the girl’s {e/c} eyes. “Open it, Vash! I hope you like it!”

Listening to the optimistic upbeat girl, Switzerland untied the delicate red bow and set it beside him. Slowly ripping the white wrapping paper off, he was finally face to face with the box inside. This box had a golden bow across the top of the box. He slid it off carefully and opened the lid of the box. Vash peeked inside the small package curiously.

Inside, was miniature chocolates lined up neatly, each with its individual delicate paper cup containing each one. All of them had a unique design, and had colors that varied from dark brown, light brown, and even a warm brown. Switzerland knew what these were. They were Swiss chocolates, his favorite treat.

“{N-Name}…” he stuttered, obviously surprised by the gift in his hands.

The girl faced him with eyes wide to what his reaction would be. “Yes Switzy?”

“…How much did this cost?” the Swiss country asked rather bluntly.

“Brother!” Lilli scolded, pointing a finger. “It is not polite to ask a person how much your gift costs!”

Realizing what words slipped out of his mouth, Vash muttered out an embarrassed, “Sorry...”

“Oh it’s okay!” {Name} beamed, oblivious to Switzerland’s question. “Besides…” She arrived next to the flustered Swiss, and stood on her tippy toes. It was enough to plant a sweet kiss on his cheek. “It’s the thought that counts, right?”

Vash’s cheeks were even redder after he felt {Name}’s soft lips touch him gently as he stuttered in reply, “Y…Yeah it’s the thought that counts.”

As the duo stood together, Lilli smiled softly at them. Even though you couldn’t see it between Switzerland’s flustered cheeks and his uncomfortable expression, a small smile was forming on his lips. It definitely was the thought that counts.

〖Extended Ending〗

“Switzy?”

“Now what is it, {Name}?” Vash scoffed, a tone of annoyance heard in his voice.

“Um well…I thought you should know…” {Name} smiled embarrassingly, her hands behind her back. “You know the Swiss chocolates I gave you for your birthday? Well…I “borrowed” your wallet and used your money to get them. They were expensive but I knew you would like them since they are your favorite dessert, right?” She laughed nervously, making the Swiss man look in disbelief. “Right…because it’s just the thought that counts, right…?”

An awkward silence followed. Switzerland was still trying to process what {Name} had told him. She smiled sheepishly back at him. She was about to make a run for it when a loud booming voice behind her exploded, “Hold on a minute!”

{Name} whirled around to see Vash with anger boiling in his eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me about this?!” he growled. “{Name}, you have a lot explaining to do!!” Steam was literally puffing above his head.

“Eep!” she yelped, already exiting the room. “Wait, Vash! Can’t we just talk this out?”

“Not until I get my money back!” he roared as he began to chase the naive female. Loud noises were definitely heard in that household that night.

“Wait! It’s the thought that counts, right?” {Name} reminded Switzerland about the moral from earlier. “Right..?” Vash wasn’t listening as he intensely stared at her, his face hard to read. “Heh heh…heh…”

Without another word, she made a mad dash to the door, slammed it open, and ran out, with Switzerland sprinting right behind her. “RIGHT?!”

Right…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWITZERLAND~! :iconcuteswissplz: I wanted to upload a birthday story for one of my favorite characters in Hetalia, so here it is! Hope you like it! Enjoy!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is another story I wrote a few years ago so the writing is probably not as good as most of my recent writings. I apologize if Switzerland is OOC; I tried the best I could. This is another reader-insert that I liked, so I decided to upload it on here for Switzerland's birthday. :)

Authors Notes:

[1]; Lilli= Liechtenstein’s fanon human name C:

[2]; “Switzy” is a nickname for Switzerland, just like “Iggy” is for England, and “Luddy” is for Germany. I love calling them cute nicknames~ 8D /Brick’d by Mario’s brick block

[3]; Swiss chocolates are DELICIOUS chocolates from Switzerland. People actually say they might be the best chocolates in the world. I haven’t tried any myself but…I wish I could! They sound yummy! And yes, I am pretty sure Vash’s favorite food is Swiss chocolate. xD

I don't know about anybody else but I don't think Vash cares about "It's the thought that counts!" when it comes his money being the funding to his own present. Haha!
